Partners including Western Colorado University, the Center for Public Lands, and the Gunnison Sagebrush Alliance are excited to host a showing of the film Roots so Deep on February 15, 2024, at 6pm. The film dives into a regenerative model of agriculture that supports soil health and with it the vitality of ecosystems, comparatively studying traditional and regenerative grazing systems using science and experimentation. When humans interact with soils in a regenerative way, they hold more organic matter and more carbon. We invite community members to join the film showing followed by a panel of local landowners whose grazing systems matter to our food supply, the local health of the land, and more widespread ecological resiliency.

Even if you can only make it to either the film itself (beginning a little after 6, with time for concessions) or the panel discussion (beginning around 8), we hope you can join and learn about those engaged in regenerative agricultural practices! Please do bring cash for snacks and drinks, as a group from Gunnison Middle School will be hosting a fundraiser. They would love your support as they raise money to travel to the Dominican Republic, putting in hard work as they learn about tropical agricultural systems!
