Intro to Mountaineering will take participants on a two-day adventure to eventual climb Guides Ridge on Mount Crested Butte, 9/27-9/29! No previous experience is required. Equipment, transportation, food and knowledge is all included for $50.00! 

All Wilderness Pursuit trips have a PRETRIP MEETING on the THURSDAY prior to the trip. THURSDAY 12:30PM @ WILDERNESS PURSUITS in the University Center.   

Rental gear will be rented to students at/after the pre-trip meeting, so don’t miss it! If there is a conflict, please call: 970-943-7051. 

No previous experience required!! 

Trip Itinerary:

Participants will arrive at WP around 5:00pm on a Friday. Gear will be loaded into vehicles and groups will drive to the campsite in Crested Butte. Once there, instructors will teach participants basic mountain movement skills, including but not limited to; proper hand and foot techniques, moving along a fixed line, how to read terrain, judge the weather, and others! The group will camp and practice moving along a fixed line between trees, taking time to enjoy some awesome views, good company and some great food. The group will arrive at the base of Guide’s Ridge early Sunday Morning, and attempt to summit via Guide’s Ridge while using fixed lines. Once the group has summitted, they will head back down the chair lift to the vehicles, and drive back to Gunnison. Once back, the group will return and put-away gear, and participants will be free to leave around 12:00pm.
