Dia de los Muertos

The Spanish Department at Western invites you to celebrate the Day of the dead, on Friday, November 1st from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the basement of the Savage library. We will eat “pan de muerto” and we will be drinking “Horchata”. Similar to last year, Carmen Moreira, a native from Chihuahua Mexico, will be leading this activity. In short, we will have two altars:

  • The biggest altar will be in the Savage library in the basement.
  • The smallest altar will be in Taylor, next to the Spanish bulletin board in the 2nd floor.

We hope that many of you would like to participate by bringing a photograph of deceased loved ones, as well as an offering that helps people remember them (For example: favorite food, favorite drink, an object, etc.).

Please, feel free to write an email to Carmen Moreira (cmoreira@western.edu) letting her know how you want to be involved. In addition, if you have questions about this activity write to Carmen as well. We plan to have the altars finished by Monday, October 28.
