Take a historical tour of the Gunnison River Valley west of town, imagining what was beneath Blue Mesa Reservoir before the dam was built in the early 1960s. Dave Primus leads this van tour with numerous stops and short walks, describing the history and telling the stories of early explorers and settlers in the valley.
Handouts are provided showing historical maps and pictures. Participants must be capable of walking one mile on a good trail. Bring a day pack containing water, snacks, wind/rain jackets and sun protection. Cost includes a sack lunch.
