Model UN
The Western Model United Nations Team is a highly competitive team whose purpose is to represent Western at the International Model United Nations Conference in March of each year. This international competition brings together students from dozens of countries and some of the largest universities in the United States. Before becoming a team member, students must submit written work in the field of international relations and pass an interview with the club's officers and faculty advisor. A lot is expected from students in Model United Nations and the work load is equivalent to an upper division political science class. The Model United Nations Team at Western strives every meeting to develop professional writing and speaking skills among its members. All of this hard work has paid off as the team has won high level awards at every conference attended since its development. All students regardless of background are encouraged to apply for a position on the team. In fact the Model United Nations Team is represented by students from a wide range of majors and concentrations including geology, business, economics, political science and sociology.
